Therapeutic Models Integrated Into My Work
I tailor my integrative approach to your individual needs. I draw upon the theory and technique of one or more of the therapeutic methods below.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
Based upon the realization that human beings have an innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma. SE restores self-regulation, and returns a sense of aliveness, relaxation and wholeness to traumatized individuals who have had these precious gifts taken away.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
The Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy offers a clear, non-pathologizing, and empowering method of understanding human problems, as well as an innovative and enriching philosophy of practice that invites both therapist and client to enter into a transformational relationship in which healing can occur.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with BioLateral sound, which is deep, direct, powerful yet focused and containing.
Art Therapy
Art therapy uses art media, the creative process, and the resulting artwork to explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Looking more closely at these relationships allows patterns to be noticed and provide relief of distressing symptoms.
Yoga & Mindfulness
Yoga improves the stability, strength, and flexibility of the body and the mind. Yoga breathing and postures can balance physical energy and the nervous system. By concentrating on movement and sensation, yoga expands the mind's ability to focus. Yoga is accessible regardless of ability or experience. Basic exercises will get you started and on the way to optimizing mental, physical, and emotional health.
Mindfulness enhances your ability to find comfort and peace with yourself in the present moment. When you're mindful, you practice awareness, compassion, and acceptance of your changing thoughts and sensations, without judging them as good or bad. Research has indicated that mindfulness can help to improve mood and overall wellbeing, as well as help individuals live in the moment.
